Although it’s not as famous for its sports teams as some other US cities, the Emerald City does have something to offer sports fans in the way of basketball, football, baseball, rugby, and even skating.

Seattle Storm

The Seattle Storm is a professional basketball team, which plays in the Western Conference in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). It has qualified for the playoffs in twelve of its seventeen years in the Emerald City (at the time of writing).

Among its star players are former UConn stars Swin Cash, Sue Bird, and Breanna Stewart, three-time league MVP Lauren Jackson, and 2004 Finals MVP Betty Lennox. The Storm played and won the WNBA Finals in 2004, 2010, and 2018. In fact, they have never lost a Finals series.

The Seattle Seahawks

This professional American football franchise, also based in Seattle, competes in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the West division of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC).

The Seattle Mariners

This professional baseball team competes in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the West division of the American League (AL).

Rainier Roller Girls

This is a really fun team to be in or watch. There’s just everything to love about competitive roller skating. What is more, it’s easy to learn the rules, so you can enjoy the game and follow the score even if you’ve never been to such an event before. This is the best roller team in Seattle and one of the best in the country.

The Seattle Seawolves

The Seawolves, also based in the Northwest’s biggest city, are an American professional rugby union team. They’re the youngest team on this list, founded in 2017. This year, they competed in Major League Rugby, the top rugby competition in the country.
